The Passion of the Christ
Who's in it: James Caviezel, Hristo Shopov, Maia Morgenstern
What's it about: Christ(Caviezel) is found by the high priests guards and taken to Pontius Pilate(Shopov). When the people of the crowd agree to take back a murderer instead of Jesus, He is given to the crowd to do what they wish. After Jesus is whipped and beaten, He is sentenced to be crucified. He is whipped the entire way towards Calvary Hill with his mother, Mary(Morgenstern), watching. Jesus is then hung upon the cross and left to die.
What I Think: Out of all of the rendentions of this story, I have never seen one so gruesome. The brutality was taken to extremes and there was no room for guessing how awful Jesus' torture was. I was amazed at the amount of accuracy of the story of Jesus' crucifixtion. I watched this the day after Good Friday and I am so glad that I did. I have a brand new appreciation for Jesus and what He did for us. The intensity of emotion is what kept me enthralled for the whole time. There were subtitles, but I never even really noticed. I recommend this movie to believers and non-believers. I think that it would even make those who don't believe think about it.
