New In Town

New In Town

Who's in it: Renée Zellweger, Harry Connick Jr., Siobhan Fallon

What's it about: After a long career as a leader in a big business, Lucy(Zellweger) is being sent to Minnesota to begin leading a dying business. She's met by Blanche(Fallon) who helps Lucy to her new home and offers her a warm homecooked dinner. Here she meets Ted(Connick Jr.). Ted is the local union representative. She doesn't find this out until after she's had an outburst of argument with him. She begins to fall for Ted after he saves her from a snow dune out in the middle of nowhere. The widowed Ted begins to fall for Lucy as well, but her knowing that she must fire everyone at the plant she's the head of, leaves him wondering what kind of woman Lucy really is.

What I Think: I was able to watch this at South Carolina Business Week 2009 with over 200 people in the auditorium. Even though the sound was a bit off and, with all of those kids, hard to hear, I got the whole movie. I loved Zellweger's character. She was so funny with Connick Jr. Not to mention how much I love Connick Jr. already! The two were a perfect couple on the big screen. As for the story, it was entertaining. I liked the entirety of it really. It was serious, but completely funny at the same time.

Me, Myself & Irene

Me, Myself, & Irene

Who's in it: Jim Carrey, Renée Zellweger

What's it about: His wife left him with three kids that weren't even his and Charlie(Carrey) just let all of those feelings bottle themselves inside him. These feelings make his counterpart, Hank(Carrey), develop inside of him and come out. Now diagnosed with "advanced delusionary schizophrenia with involuntary narcissistic rage" his job with the Rhode Island Police Force is on the fritz. He is assigned to take Irene(Zellweger), a woman who is wanted in New York, back to where she is needed. After Charlie finds out that Irene is only wanted because the police force is corrupted by a powerful group or murderers, it is up to both of him to save her.

What I Think: This is a relatively old movie, but I still loved it. Some parts were a little much because of the excessive sexual reference, but most of those were even funny. I have always loved and will always love both Carrey and Zellweger. I was really impressed by Carrey's ability to act like someone with multiple personality syndrome. I expect that it would be difficult, but I think that he pulled it off well. Lots of comic and action faces in here. Anthony Anderson, Tony Cox, Richard Jenkins, and Chris Cooper were all seen in this film!

Leatherheads

Leatherheads

Who's in it: George Clooney, Renée Zellweger, John Krasinski, Jonathan Pryce

What's it about: The Duluth Bulldogs are a professional football team. Dodge(Clooney) is the captain. When he hires young war-hero Carter(Krasinski), his team starts to get a new captain. A young reporter, Lexie Littleton(Zellweger), is out to get Carter and his war-hero story. C.C.(Pryce) is the manager for Carter and is trying to get everything back on track when Littleton reveals Carter as a phony hero.

What I Think: Having the movie filmed in my hometown, Greenville, was a great experience for us. We absolutely loved to have the attention and the stars. Watching this movie was great because I recognized the places where each scene took place and that was wonderful. Zellweger can always pull off an oldies girl with her skin tone and voice. Clooney was handsome as always and everyone loved him. Krasinski went a long way from 'The Office' to 'Leatherheads' and I say that he did a great job.

The Bachelor

The Bachelor

Who's in it: Chris O'Donnell, Renée Zellweger, Artie Lange

What's it about: Jimmie(O'Donnell) is a bachelor. Or as he says, a 'wild mustang'. He's always dating beautiful women for fun. But when he meets Anne(Zellweger), he falls head over heels. They attend all of his friends weddings and when she catches the bouquet, he panics. He feels like he has to propose to her now. On their 3 year anniversary of being together, he proposes and everything falls apart and they break up. When his grandfather dies, he is to inherit $100,000. The only catch is to be married before he turns 30. The thing is, his birthday is tomorrow! On an epic search to find Anne with his best friend Marco(Lange), he learns just how much love is worth.

What I Think: I do like Renée Zellweger, but in this movie she just wasn't that great. She wasn't in it alot of the time so I guess that could be what happened. O'Donnell was very good looking but didn't do a great acting job. He needs to stick with Batman.
