River of No Return

River of No Return

Who's in it: Robert Mitchum, Marilyn Monroe, Tommy Retig, Rory Calhoun

What's it about: Mark(Retig) was left alone with his mother at a young age. After she dies, his father, Matt(Mitchum), comes to take him back. Mark befriends a bar singer, Kay(Monroe), and she looks after him while Matt is on his way to get Mark. When Kay's gambler boyfriend, Harry(Calhoun), asks her to marry him, they are on their way to the city to become official. They get a raft to float down the river to the city, but get stranded at Matt's house. Harry runs off with Matt's horse, and now Matt, Mark, and Kay are going to down the river in hopes of beating Harry.

What I Think: This movie was from the 50s and I quite enjoyed it. I usually am a lover of newer, more modern movies, but this was a classic. I have honestly never seen a movie with Monroe in it and I never knew that she was such an actress. There was attempt for computer graphics but they were all failed in my mind, but amazing for the minds of a movie watcher in the 1950s! I thought that the storyline was done quite well, but the acting of the others, besides Monroe, was not too convincing.
