Heights

Heights

Who's in it: Elizabeth Banks, James Marsden, Glenn Close, Jesse Bradford

What's it about: Isabel(Banks) and Jonathan(Marsden) are getting married in a few weeks. Isabel's mother, Diana(Close), is one of the top directors and actresses for Shakespearian plays in New York. Alec(Bradford) auditions for one of Diana's plays. With all of the drama with Diana's unfaithful husband, she finds a liking in Alec. Diana finds out a dark secret about Jonathan's past, and when Isabel finds out, things aren't looking good. The unknown connection between these four people will forever change their lives.

What I Think: This is one of the best performances I think I've ever seen from Marsden. I have fallen head over heels for Bradford. He's an amazing actor and just drop dead gorgeous. Close and Banks connected well for their written relationship. I loved the storyline. Every twist had me more and more enthralled. There was brief nudity here and there, but none was female, which sort of made me feel good. Not because I am a woman, but because there's hardly any movies nowadays with only a few shots of male nudity and no female nudity. Loved the story! Loved the performances! Loved the end!!!!!!

Role Models

Role Models

Who's in it: Seann William-Penn, Paul Rudd, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Bobbe Thompson

What's it about: As an order from the court, Danny(Rudd) and Wheeler(William-Penn) are to work with Sturdy Wings. This program is for children who aren't accepted in their world. It is to help them move along in the world and learn how to make friends. Danny meets Augie(Mintz-Plasse) who is a geeky kid obsessed with dragons and Medieval times. Wheeler meets Ronnie(Thompson) who is a foul mouthed boy with a single mother. The two men teach the boys about being in the real world and how to be who they want to be.

What I Think: Again the nudity was a bit uncalled for. I didn't think that it showed any sort of point to show naked women except the first one. The entire movie was hilarious! I loved the fact that KISS played a huge part in the movie. I recommend this movie to anyone who wanted to laugh their head off for an entire movie. I was laughing pretty much from beginning to end. All of the actors were fun. I want to go to a LAIRE now. I thought that it was great and I would love the experience to be in one.

Into the Wild

Into the Wild

Who's in it: Emile Hirsch

What's it about: Throughout his life, Chris(Hirsch) has always felt held back by the material possessions that control the world. After graduating with near perfect grades, he leaves his home without notice and goes on a journey to find himself. He meets several people along the way that encourage him, but also think that he should at least let his family know that he's alright. After walking around the western states, he decides that his final quest is to find a place and stay in Alaska for a while.

What I Think: This movie was based on the true story of Christopher Johnson McCandless. It was also turned into a book by Jon Krakauer. I thought that they played out the story of his life very well. Hirsch did an outstanding job as a nature lover and a man living on his own in the wild. It was interesting to watch his calm way of living turn to a frantic need to survive. He lived quite sophistically by himself and I loved his inablity to truely become embaressed. I wish that I had his talents to think things over the way that he did. It was also amazing to learn about a man who truely believed that he didn't need money to survive in the world. There are scenes of nudity that I didn't like and weren't needed to me.

The Slaughter

The Slaughter

Who's in it: Jessica Ellis, Zak Kilberg, Terry Erioski, Laura Bach, Travis Wood, Billy Beck, Adriana Esquivel, Eva Derrek

What's it about: Dana(Ellis), Tyler(Erioski), Iggy(Kilberg), Heather(Bach), Brandon(Wood), and Razz(Beck) are hired to clean an old, abandoned house for a weekend. The gang of them uncover an ancient spellbook and release a She Demon(Esquivel) into the world. After the Demon is released, she begins to knock off the friends one by one. When only Dana and Iggy are left, the witch, Madam Izriah(Derrek), herself is reincarnated. The last step for her permanent reincarnation is an ultimate sacrifice, but with only two people left in the house, the odds don't look good.

What I Think: Again with the poorly made horror film. I am disappointed that I keep picking crap to watch. The entire movie was completely stupid. It had the potential with the storyline, but then the acting and attempt at comedy towards the end just killed it. If the dialogue had just been shortened, maybe it wouldn't have been so stupid. The acting was horrid, but the setting was great. I will repeat that the movie had potential, but bad decisions put it under and out. The effects were ridiculously stupid. Makeup artist had skills. Special effects artist need to stop. I thought that some of the nudity was just not needed.

A Clockwork Orange

A Clockwork Orange

Who's in it: Malcolm McDowell

What's it about: Alex(McDowell) has always been a troublemaker. He is the leader of a gang that runs around thieving, beating, and raping people. When he is caught after murdering an elderly woman, he is sentenced 14 years in prison. After only 2 years, he is chosen for an experimental program to rid him of all evil intentions. He is, unknowingly, given a medication to make him feel sick, and then put in front of a screen with his eyes forced to stay open and shown awful evils. When he associates pain and sickness with evil doings, he is released into the world. He comes across all of his old enemies and they are taking advantage of his disability to fight back.

What I Think: Based on a novel by Anthony Burgess, this movie was pretty good. I thought that it was well written and well played out. The only thing that I didn't like was the mass nudity shown throughout the movie. I didn't mind so much seeing as the nudity actually played a role. This is a very old movie and I liked how it was made in a time like that. The sets were very great and the confrontation that Alex found within himself was great to go along with. I am new to McDowell, but I think that I'm going to check out some of his other stuff. He had a mesmerizing voice and I loved it.

Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay

Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay

Who's in it: John Cho, Kal Penn, Rob Corddry, Neil Patrick Harris, Danneel Harris, Eric Winter, Paula Garcés

What's it about: Harold(Cho) and Kumar(Penn) are on their way to Amsterdam to chase down Harold's love, Maria(Garcés). They are thrown off the plane because they're believed to be terrorists. Governmental terrorist investigator Ron Fox(Corddry) is on the duo's tail when they escape from Guantanamo Bay. They are on their way to Texas, where Kumar has found out his love, Vannessa(D. Harris), is marrying Colton(Winter). They get a ride from Neil Patrick Harris(N.P. Harris) and finally get to Texas in hopes that Colton will help them get out of their situation of suspected terrorism because of his connections in the government.

What I Think: This was basically all about sex and smoking pot. I thought that some parts were funny but I didn't like the majority of the movie. There were too many naked women and other degrading references toward females. It was pretty disgusting, but hilarious at the same time. The plot was great to watch unfold. Everything that they got into kept adding to their pile of chaos. The entire movie had me laughing. There is alot of nudity and drug reference, so this is a movie for adults.
